Michael Viera, a Connecticut native, studied at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Old Lyme CT, where he received a BFA in painting in 1996. Michael received his Masters of Fine Art in Painting from The New York Academy of Art in 2001.
Mr. Viera has awards from the National Arts Club, New York and The New Haven Paint and Clay Club, where his work is part of their permanent collection.
Working with both Figurative Narrative and in Landscape, Michael emotes depth of space and mood through selective brushwork and illuminating glazes.
His paintings have been described as: Reserved intensity, unique in style that incorporates haunting light and depth of texture with clean geometric compositions.
Michael's most recent shows were at the Peter Marcelle Gallery, Southampton, NY and Gerald Peter's Gallery, New York and Santa Fe, NM.
